Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel will host an official visit in Sofia of Croatia's Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman on September 11, the Foreign Ministry said Sunday.

It is the first official visit to Bulgaria by a foreign minister after the formation of the new Bulgarian government.

Among the highlights of the meeting are expected to be the cooperation between Bulgaria and Croatia within the EU and NATO, Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, the war in Ukraine and other topics on the international agenda. A plenary session between the delegations of the two ministers is also foreseen in the programme of the visit. After the session, Gabriel and Radman will make a joint statement to the media. They will also visit the capital's Croatian-language primary school.

Within the framework of the Croatian minister's visit to Bulgaria, meetings with President Rumen Radev, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov and National Assembly Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov are planned.
