On Ukraine's Independence Day, Bulgaria reaffirms its unwavering support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel wrote on X (Twitter) on Thursday.

"We stand in solidarity with the Government and people of Ukraine in defending their homeland and shared values," Gabriel wrote.

On August 24, Ukraine marks 32 years since its independence, Ukrinform reported. Independence Day is an annual holiday in Ukraine that commemorates the adoption of the Act of the Proclamation of Independence of Ukraine in 1991. The document, adopted at an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR, declared the establishment of an independent Ukrainian state.
