The National Electricity Company (NEK) will be able to continue to carry out the conservation of the equipment supplied for units 1 and 2 of the Belene Nuclear Power Plant under the technical guidance of Russia's Atomstroyexport, the Council of Ministers approved Wednesday as an exception to the regulation introducing restrictive measures due to Russia's actions in Ukraine.

Conservation activities are still being carried out at the Belene NPP site and their purpose is to ensure that the equipment remains in the condition required by the manufacturer. The current contract for the technical management of the reconservation of long life equipment ends on December 31, 2023. The continuation of the contract will be carried out in accordance with the Public Procurement Act.
