site.btaMultinational Tactical Exercise Agile Spirit - 2023 Starts in Georgia with Bulgarian Participation

The multinational tactical exercise Agile Spirit - 2023 opened in the Krtsanisi training area in Georgia on August 21 with Bulgarian participation, said the Bulgarian Defence Ministry Tuesday. More than 3,500 servicemen and civilian personnel from 25 countries and military structures are taking part. Bulgaria is represented by a light infantry platoon from the 61st Light Infantry Mechanized Brigade in Karlovo. 

Agile Spirit - 2023 includes a computer-assisted command and staff exercise with a multinational brigade training headquarters and battalion tactical exercises to be held at ranges in Georgia until September 1, 2023. The Multinational Tactical Exercise is planned and conducted by US Army Europe and Africa with Georgia's armed forces and formations from NATO member and partner nations. The objective is to enhance interoperability and improve the operational capabilities of participating forces during the planning and conduct of operations in a multinational environment, and to contribute to the maintenance of a stable and secure environment in the Black Sea region, said the Defence Ministry.

Agile Spirit exercise has been conducted annually since 2011, and since 2015, along with the Georgian and US forces, it has also been attended by troops from various member and partner countries of the Alliance, including Bulgaria.
