site.bta29 Illegal Migrants Caught Near Karlovo

In the small hours of Thursday, police caught 29 illegal migrants in a minibus near the south-central town of Karlovo.

The Regional Directorate of the Interior in the regional capital Plovdiv said that the minibus was stopped for a check at 5:30 am in the village of Karnare and police found in its freight compartment 29 men. They were all undocumented and said they were from Afghanistan. 

The minibus driver was detained. He has a police record of prior violations. 

A pre-trial proceeding has been opened.
