By resigning as European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth before European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen, I acted responsibly and loyally to the European Union (EU) treaties and the constitutional order of the Republic of Bulgaria, said Mariya Gabriel, GERB-UDF's prime minister designate Tuesday. She added that she has respected the provisions of the treaties and the Code of Conduct for EC members.

Gabriel thanked von der Leyen for the joint work and all commissioners, MEPs and EU Council members for their support and trust.

Mariya Gabriel also expressed her gratitude to all the partners with whom she has worked in the fields of education, innovation, science, culture, sport and youth.

Gabriel has resigned as Commissioner and EC President Ursula von der Leyen accepted her resignation on Monday. Von der Leyen thanked Gabriel for her work.
