European Court of Justice in Luxembourg Defends Restrictions on Video Recording during Vote Counting

The Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg issued Thursday a decision on a request tabled by the Democratic Bulgaria party to record and broadcast live the counting of the election results in the voting sections after the end of an election day. The decision of the European Court confirms the position of the Central Election Commission (CEC) and the Commission for Personal Data Protection (CPDP) that video recording violates the regulation on processing personal data applied in all member states of the European Union, CPDP Chair Ventsislav Karadjov told BTA.
