At a Serbian National Day ceremony at Expo 2025 in Osaka on Monday, President Aleksandar Vucic said the country is a bridge between the East and the West, just like the Serbian pavilion at the Expo 2025 represents a symbolic bridge between two world Expos: Expo 2025 in Osaka and Expo 2027 in Belgrade, state broadcaster RTS reported.

Vucic called on Serbs to be as disciplined as the Japanese. Vucic is currently visiting Japan and made his appeal on the occasion of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day.

"We will have to be as disciplined as the Japanese, to finish everything for Expo 27, build all the facilities. The building permit for the stadium has finally been obtained, and I believe that with greater responsibility, greater commitment, and with the question: what can we do for our country, and not: what can our country do for us, we can achieve what they have achieved here in Osaka," Vucic said.

"The specialized Expo 27 exposition is an exceptional and enormous opportunity for us to present the scale and strength of our country to the world in the best possible way, to show that Serbia is in step with modern technologies, the development of artificial intelligence, everything that is of key importance for our country in the future," Vucic added.

"It is my great honour and pleasure to welcome you on Serbian National Day at Expo 2025 in Osaka. Exactly on this day, September 15, we mark a great national holiday - the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag. That symbolism makes our stay here in Osaka even more significant," Vucic said.

He especially thanked Japan's minister for Expo 2025, Yoshitaka Ito, and said that, without his support and attention, Serbia's National Day event in Osaka would not have been so impressive, RTS reports.

During his visit to Japan, the Serbian president will meet with Emperor Naruhito and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

The visit will conclude with a presentation of Serbia's potential as an investment destination, which is to be attended by representatives of major Japanese companies.

This is the Serbian head of state's first visit to Japan. The visit ends on September 17.
