Serbia's Public Prosecutors Office for Organized Crime will get involved in the investigation of the case of the collapsed concrete canopy at the Novi Sad railway station that killed 15 people in November 2024. This development was reported by Serbian media who quoted the Public State Prosecutor of the Republic of Serbia Zagorka Dolovac on Wednesday.

The Public Prosecutors Office for Organized Crime will investigate all stages of the reconstruction of the Novi Sad railway station for possible criminal offences with corrupt elements.

The Acting Prosecutor of the Special Anti-Corruption Unit of the Novi Sad High Prosecutor's Office will be temporarily assigned to work and continue the proceedings in this case at the Public Prosecutors Office for Organized Crime.

Dolovac extended an invitation to representatives of the student protesters to a meeting to discuss the implementation of their demands within the jurisdiction of the prosecution service for the second time. Her first invitation was left unanswered.

At this stage, 13 people have been indicted after the deadly incident, including former minister of construction, transport and infrastructure Goran Vesic.
