Due to a nationwide strike in Greece, Sky Express and Aegean Airlines have cancelled on Wednesday flights to and from Sofia Airport, the airport said.

The following flights have been cancelled:

GQ680 (Athens - Sofia) – 9 a.m.;

GQ681 (Sofia - Athens) – 9:35 a.m.;

A3980 (Athens - Sofia) – 2.30 p.m.;

A3981 (Sofia - Athens) – 3.20 p.m..

Sofia Airport urged all affected passengers to contact the airline for more information on the status of the flight and next steps to take.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry recommended that people plan their trips to Greece carefully due to the nationwide 24-hour strike.

A nationwide 24-hour strike organised by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (ΓΣΕΕ) has been called in Greece on Wednesday. The strike action is expected to affect public services in Greece, including maritime and air transport. All categories of ferries and cargo ships will not run. Airline dispatchers will also take part in the strike action and will not operate civil flights. Only some categories of special flights will be operated, the Ministry informed.
