Several trade union organizations of Serbian pensioners gathered in the center of Belgrade Wednesday and joined the protesting students, Serbian media report. "We support what you are doing, not only because it is normal and natural but also because of all the injustices we pensioners have endured since 2012," said the president of the Union of Retired Military Personnel of Serbia, Jovan Tamburic.
Some students also joined them after previously going to the Belgrade City Hall to support the demands of public transport workers addressed to Mayor Aleksandar Šapić.
On Wednesday, the students also received support from the professional association of pediatricians.
"Until yesterday, we treated them; tomorrow, they will treat us, and today, they seem to be healing society as a whole. We are witnessing a generational shift, and it seems that those stepping onto the social stage are more creative and capable than us— their predecessors," the Association of Serbian Pediatricians wrote in a statement to the media.
Meanwhile, in front of the Ministry of Education, primary and secondary school teachers protested against the pressure and persecution they have faced due to the suspension of classes.
In support of the educators, citizens and deans from eight Belgrade faculties that train future teachers gathered outside the education ministry building.
