Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov attended the final meetings within the North Macedonia Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP), Kondov's Ministry said on Monday.
On June 13 in Skopje, Kondov represented Bulgaria at the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and at the SEECP Summit.
Addressing the forum, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that building a connecting infrastructure in all its dimensions: energy, transport and digital, and especially the implementation of the East-West and North-South transport corridors is a long-term investment in enhancing the region's resilience.
Kondov stressed that Bulgaria will continue to be a strong advocate of the EU enlargement process in respect of which a leading factor will be candidate countries' individual progress in meeting the relevant criteria and reforms.
Within the framework of his visit, the Deputy Foreign Minister held a meeting with representatives of the Bulgarians in North Macedonia who shared some of their expectations and the difficulties they encounter. For his part, Kondov assured them that Sofia will continue to stand up categorically for the need of Skopje honouring the commitments assumed, including the key question of guaranteeing Bulgarians' rights.
An exhibition entitled "Ecoconsciousness" was opened before the beginning of the meeting, which took place at the Bulgarian Culture and Information Centre in Skopje.
