A contractor for the reconstruction of the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint on the border with Turkiye will be selected within a month, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said during his visit Wednesday to the border checkpoint, as quoted by the Government information service.
The Prime Minister was adamant that good coordination with Turkiye could be used as a basis for modernizing all the country's border crossings.
At the border crossing, Glavchev also visited the joint contact centre for police and customs cooperation between Bulgaria, Greece and Turkiye , which is one of the most important elements of the trilateral cooperation on border security, countering illegal migration, combating human trafficking, smuggling and customs violations. "The centre is indeed an example of how joint action can achieve results," the Prime Minister said.
At the end of his visit to the region, Glavchev was briefed on how the "green border" with Turkiye is being secured. The visit was also attended by Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria Mehmet Sait Uyanik, caretaker Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Violeta Koritarova, Director of the Customs Agency Georgi Dimov, as well as the Director of Border Police, Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov.
