A total of 281 people took part in the "Bulgarian Language Dictation" contest, which was organized in Moldova on the occasion of the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slav Letters.

The announcement of the results and the official awarding of diplomas and certificates to the winners took place at the end of last week at the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau.

"As a result of this action, Bulgarians from the diaspora in Moldova were given the opportunity not only to show their literacy in their native Bulgarian language, but also to prove once again their Bulgarian identity," said Dr. Maria Delibaltova, specialist sent from the Bulgarian Ministry of Education in the city of Komrat, who was also the chairwoman of the committee for checking written works.

She expressed her hope that the competition, held for the first time this year, would become a tradition. Based on the results, the dictation committee decided the winners.

In the 13 to 19 years old category, the first place was given to Alina Peyoglo. In the category of over 20 years, Maria Babova won, a student of Comrat State University. An incentive prize was awarded to the oldest participant - 72-year-old Ana Radova, who has not studied literary Bulgarian speech, organizers said.

The competition was organized by the General Directorate of Education in the city of Comrat, the Bulgarian Embassy in Chisinau, the NGO "Bulgarian Community in the Republic of Moldova" and the Association of Bulgarian Teachers in Moldova.
