Addressing the opening of a Bulgarian-Turkish Business Forum here Thursday, Shumen Mayor Hristo Hristov underscored the crucial importance of education for economic growth, business and progress in all spheres. "There is no growth without education, there is no business without education, there is no progress without education,", said the Mayor.

He emphasized that Bulgaria and Turkiye traditionally have excellent trade and economic relations, which enliven the region and make a great economic contribution to the Bulgarian economy. "I am glad that the forum focuses on the relationship between business and education," he commented, adding that the Municipality places emphasis on three important factors, namely the relationship between the administration and investors, the relationship between investors and human resources and the relationship between the local resources and the conditions for business.

Hristov stated that the Municipality implements a proactive, close partnership with the companies that invest here, both native and foreign. "Turkish business creates added value for Shumen economy and Bulgarian economy, and we help and try to reduce the administrative burden," he said. He noted that the Municipality is honored that two local companies - Alcomet AD and Ficosota Food EAD - have won accolades at the National Investor of the Year Award.

The mayor pointed out that Shumen Municipality is making progress in the field of dual education, noting that the Vocational High School of Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications and Transport has had a dual education system since the 2020/2021 academic year. He pointed out that in the Production Automation specialty, dual education is being developed in partnership with three local companies and that students from the 11th grade sign employment contracts with the companies for their training in a real environment. "I want us to move faster and on a larger scale along this path in order to provide the workforce for these productions of ours. Here too, we have an excellent partnership with business," Hristov stated.
