Sofia, August 13 (BTA) - The Specialized Prosecution Office (SPO) has charged Nessebur (on the Black Sea) municipal councillor Peyko Yankov with participating in a crime ring involved in racketeering and drug dealing, and led by convicted drug lord Dimiter "Mityo the Eyes" Zhelyazkov, SPO reported Monday.

A group of suspected criminals was detained in a police operation in the region of Bourgas, but three of them were declared wanted - Zhelyazkov, Kaloyan Kolev and Yankov. Zhelyazkov was detained in Istanbul and is awaiting extradition to Bulgaria, while Kolev returned from Spain voluntarily.

The SPO has asked the Specialized Criminal Court that Yankov be remanded in custody. RY/MY
