Sofia, August 24 (BTA) - The producer price index in agriculture in the second quarter of 2018 decreased by 5.8 per cent year-on-year, the National Statistical Institute reported Friday.

Compared to the previous year, the prices of agricultural output went down by 2.9 per cent, which is attributed to the 1.9 per cent decrease in the crop output price index, and the 4.2 per cent increase in animal output price index.

The price index of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture in the second quarter of 2018 was 1.9 per cent higher compared to the second quarter of 2017 and 2.3 per cent higher compared to 2017.

The price index of energy and fuels went up by 7 per cent in the second quarter of 2018, compared to the corresponding quarter of last year. The price index for seeds and planting stock increased by 3.3 per cent, and the one of veterinary products, by 2.5 per cent. The price index decreased of mineral fertilizers, by 2.4 per cent, and of plant protection products, by 4.9 per cent.
