National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria
Will Vote against Three Ministerial
Resignations

Sofia, September 2 (BTA) - The leadership of the National Front for Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB) Sunday stated it would vote against the resignations of three ministers in the aftermath of an August 25 bus crash in which 17 passengers were killed and 21 were injured. The party issued a position at the end of a two-day meeting.

The three ministers - Ivaylo Moskovski (transport), Valentin Radev (the interior) and Nikolai Nankov (regional development) - tendered their resignations on Friday after Prime Minister Boyko Borissov asked for them.

The NFSB is against what it calls Borissov's autocratic style regarding cabinet changes without consulting the power-sharing United Patriots coalition of which the NFSB is a member. This is against the Coalition Agreement, the party said. The frantic changes in the government put an end to statehood, deal a heavy blow on the implementation of the coalition programme, and cause a professional staff shortage.

The NFSB asked what is the "political" guilt of the ministers who were not dismissed by a political decision of the government coalition. A reasoning person would question the allegation that substandard asphalt was the cause of the tragic accident in Svoge, given that samples for testing were taken only on Saturday, said the party.

"We are concerned about this pattern of governance which puts at risk the implementation of the government's coalition programme," said the NFSB.

The National Executive Committee will announce the NFSB's position on its participation in the coalitions and the country's governance in a political declaration on September 3. LI/DD
