Bulgarian Students Injured
in Bologna Explosion
Return Home

Sofia, September 3 (BTA) - Seven Bulgarian high school students who were injured in an August 6 tanker truck explosion near the northern Italian city of Bologna have returned to their country, the Foreign Ministry reported on Monday, quoting the Bulgarian Consulate General in Milan.

They came back on August 31 together with the other members of a group of 20 eleventh-graders from the Mechanical Engineering School in Silistra (on the Danube) and their school principal. The group had been in Italy for practical training at a local company.

Two of the young people, who had sustained minor burns, were discharged from a hospital in Bologna on the last two days of August. The most seriously injured member of the group, who received medical care in Italy's leading burn treatment hospital in Cesena, was also discharged in the meantime.

The group received maximum assistance from Bulgaria's Honorary Consul in Bologna, Franco Castellini, who kept in touch with the Bulgarian Consulate General in Milan. LI/VE
