First Bulgarian-made Electric Car

Sofia, September 5 (BTA) - The first Bulgarian-made electric car was officially presented at a special ceremony in Sofia on Wednesday, the Economy Ministry said in a press release. The event was attended by Deputy Economy Minister Luchezar Borissov.

The vehicle was presented by Rossen Daskalov, the owner of Sin Cars International - the company which made the car. Daskalov presented a road version of the first Bulgarian electric car, a racing car and a concept for a multifunctional and compact urban electric car that is planned to be produced in Bulgaria and exported abroad. In the words of Daskalov, the new L City looks straight in the future so that it will only be offered in an electric version.

The electric and hybrid vehicles in all categories registered in Bulgaria total 6,808, of which 554 are electric cars, which is an increase of more than 600 per cent over the past five years, Borissov said.

Borissov noted that the production of Bulgarian electric vehicles is one of the priorities in the promotion of investment in innovative productions envisaged in the Innovative Strategy for Smart Specialization and the development of electric mobility in Bulgaria.

An interagency working group has been set up to develop a national programme and roadmap for the development of electric mobility by 2025 and, in the longer term, by 2030, Borissov said, adding that this will provide a sustainable platform for the long-term development of the sector. RY/ZH
