Northern Coast Tourism Sector Reports
Lv 34 Mln Revenue Increase for
Summer of 2018, Y/Y

Varna, on the Black Sea, September 20 (BTA) - The tourism sector along the northern Bulgarian Black Sea coast reported a 34 million leva increase in revenue this summer compared to last year's season, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov, said here on Thursday. He took part in an enlarged meeting of the Council on the Problems of the Tourism Industry, together with Varna Regional Governor Stoyan Passev, Varna Mayor Ivan Portnih and officials of all regulatory authorities.

Simeonov added that the Varna Office of the National Revenue Agency reported an 8 per cent increase in tax collection this summer season. He explained that probes continue into the owners of 302 luxury vehicles, who must provide proof of their income. According to him, tax-related administrative violations have decreased by almost two-thirds. The crime rate along the northern coast has dropped by close to 25 per cent this summer, while the crime clearance rate has increased by around 50 per cent, the Deputy PM reported.

Noise pollution along the northern Black Sea coast has been restricted overall, Simeonov said, adding that a total of 148 such violations have been established this summer season.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that labour inspectors have registered quite a few working time violations at various sites. This, however, is normal, given the shortage of workers. "When there are not enough workers, working time is not observed, but people must be paid overtime," Simeonov noted. RQ/MY
