Varna, on the Black Sea, October 3 (BTA)- The Commander of the Bulgarian Navy, Rear Admiral Mitko Petev, discussed at a meeting Wednesday with the Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis, the programme for developing the cooperation between the Bulgarian and the Greek navies. Vice Admiral Tsounis is paying a visit to Bulgaria.

The two officials also discussed the joint efforts of the navies within NATO and the EU defence policy, as well as joint participations in NATO's standing groups. Rear Admiral Petev said that the two navies have a rich programme for cooperation and take part in exercises jointly.

Vice Admiral Tsounis noted that the two navies have common interests and values. He said that the cooperation must continue and that the two navies should carry out more joint actions.

While in Bulgaria, the Greek guest is to visit the naval bases in Varna and Bourgas and the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy. LY/ZH//
