October 5 (BTA) - "The Western Balkans remain high on EU's agenda at an institutional, political and economic level, because the future of Europe depends on the common efforts of us all," said Minister for EU Presidency Liliyana Pavlova at the 7th EU-Southeastern Europe Summit which took place in Belgrade on October 4 and5. The Western Balkans are a region with a large potential, regional economies are developing fast and the advancing of relations with the EU is of mutual interest, she added

The forum took place under the motto "A Sustainable Recovery in the Balkans? Serbia in a Leading Role". It is dedicated to the Western Balkans and the EU Enlargement Policy.

The countries from the EU and the Western Balkans should show mutual trust and take advantage of the momentum, said Pavlova. The Minister for EU Presidency said that the support for a EU membership throughout the region has gone up by 10 per cent compared with 2016 and nearly 50 per cent of the population and 53 per cent of businesses believe that accession of the EU will bring only positive effects.
