The role of the Ruse University branch in Razgrad is significant and social, its Director Prof Stanka Damyanova told a local conference as part of BTA's Europe on Balkans: Cohesion Skills project. The conference took place at the BTA National Press Club here on Friday.

"Ruse University and its Razgrad branch work for the development of the region, proof of which is the fruitful cooperation with business and local administration. We work so that there are young people who want to stay here, start families and realize themselves professionally," Damyanova pointed out. She noted that the Razgrad branch trains bachelor and master students in three professional fields - Chemical Technologies, Biotechnology, and Food Technologies - with graduates acquiring the professional qualification Engineer.

Damyanova stated that in 2024, Ruse University participated in two projects under the National Roadmap for Scientific Infrastructure of Bulgaria 2020-2027, four national scientific programmes and five projects under the Scientific Research Fund, one of which is in progress at the branch in Razgrad. She highlighted the programme of the Education and Science Ministry for digital qualification, as the educational process at Ruse University and its branch in Razgrad is being renewed and modernized thanks to it.

She also pointed out that Ruse University is implementing 14 projects under EU programmes with international partners and that the Razgrad branch is participating in one of the international projects, which aims to create an innovative tool for assessing the life cycle of products or a service for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agri-food sector.

Damyanova emphasized that they are working in partnership with academic institutions and SMEs from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Lithuania and Bulgaria, adding that in October 2024, one of the meetings under the project was held in the Razgrad Branch, in which managers of 15 regional companies in the food industry participated.

BTA's Europe on Balkans: Cohesion Skills project aims to raise public awareness and foster open dialogue about cohesion policy, local achievements, and the implementation of the EU's policy priorities. The project kicked off with a conference in Veliki Preslav in November 2024. Until September 2025, BTA will host discussions at its press clubs in the following cities: Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Dobrich, Kazanlak, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Pleven, Razgrad, Ruse, Samokov, Svishtov, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia, Stara Zagora, Troyan, Targovishte, Haskovo, Shumen, and Yambol. Cross-border conferences will be held in Belgrade, Bosilegrad, Bucharest, Edirne, Skopje, and Thessaloniki. The project builds on the Europe in the Balkans: A Common Future and Europe in Bulgaria: A Common Future projects, implemented by BTA in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
