Head of State Rumen Radev presented the Presidential Badge of Honour to distinguished actor and public figure Yavor Milushev at the 51st National Ikar Awards for Performing Arts ceremony, held at the National Theatre on Thursday, the President’s press office said Friday.
“The deeper the crises, the more we should talk about culture and produce culture, because we emerge from a crisis with a clear national purpose and unity, which are possible when our society is united by spiritual values,” President Radev said in his address to the guests and Ikar winners.
Yavor Milushev earned the Presidential Badge of Honour with his overall services to theatre and film art, and for his active creative contribution to the development, traditions and authority of Bulgarian culture and state.
Milushev also received the Icarus Award for outstanding contribution to Bulgarian theatre.
In his address, the head of State highlighted Milushev’s wide creative range of roles. "He played equally brilliantly the rebel-revolutionary and the intellectual, the anarchist and the prosecutor, the minister and the president, the beast and the loving husband. He made us rediscover and live [Peyo] Yavorov in a unique way," President Radev said in his speech.
Yavor Milushev thanked the head of State for the award and the audience for their support over the years. "When you receive such recognition and the highest award for creativity, this combination is very obliging. It means that I must put in a lot of effort to do this job, and I will," the actor said.
