Truck traffic at the border crossing checkpoints Kapitan Andreevo and Lesovo is intense on Friday morning, Border Police said.
Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova and Director of the Customs Agency Georgi Dimov will visit checkpoint Kapitan Andreevo later on Friday, the press centre of the Finance Ministry said.
The Minister of Finance will get acquainted on the spot with the project for the reconstruction of the checkpoint and the plans for the digitalization of controls, which will lead to an increase in the throughput and modernization of the busiest border crossing in Europe, the release said.
The reconstruction envisages a host of activities aimed at increasing the capacity and efficiency of the border crossing, with the project expected to be completed by the middle of next year 2026.
On the border with Turkiye, temporary passage through the checkpoint Malko Tarnovo is carried out on one route due to the reconstruction of the checkpoint.
Since March 27, traffic on the Danube bridge at Ruse has been suspended. In connection with the overhaul of the facility, the passage of heavy goods vehicles will be restricted until 9 am on Friday. During the suspension of traffic on the Danube Bridge, drivers of heavy goods vehicles will be able to use parking lots in the districts of Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Yambol, and Haskovo.
On the borders with Serbia and North Macedonia, traffic is normal at all border crossing points.
On the road from the Greek side on the destination Rudozem - Xanthi construction works are being carried out. The Greek authorities have posted signs indicating that the area is a construction site and no outsiders are allowed to enter the site.
Only cars and vans up to 3.5 tonnes are allowed to pass through the border crossings in the area of Makaza, Zlatograd and Ivaylovgrad.
