The protesting psychiatrists remain on strike alert and are unwilling to back down from their demands, Dr. Lyubomir Stefanov of the St. Ivan Rilski State Psychiatric Hospital in Sofia’s Kurilo district told journalists following a meeting between representatives of the protesting psychiatrists and Health Minister Silvi Kirilov.

The psychiatrists demand a 50% salary increase, a reclassification of their labour category from third to second, and better working conditions. According to them, an additional BGN 63 million would be needed to cover such salary increases.
