Artist Deyan Petrov combines printmaking, photography and digital arts in his upcoming exhibition Three Triptychs. The exhibition will open on March 11 at the Boris Christoff Museum in Sofia and will run until March 24, the organizers said.
Petrov explores the number three through philosophical movements and visual codes. The triptych – a traditional symbol in Christian art – in this exhibition offers a space for reflection on the sacred and the profane, time and space, icons and images. In three separate cycles, the artist creates a new visual mythology where ancient ideas intertwine with reverence for new idols, the exhibition team said.
Deyan Petrov was born in Velingrad. In 2016, he graduated in Printmaking from the National Academy of Art in Sofia. His interest in photographic imagery and its digital manipulation led him to further his education, earning a Master's degree in Photography from the same institution. After completing his studies, Petrov participated in international exhibitions across Europe. He also works as a digital artist and matte painter at the Boyana Film Centre in Sofia, contributing to several Hollywood productions, including Rambo 5, Hunter Killer, HellBoy 3, Loving Pablo, and The Outpost.
