site.btaPM Zhelyazkov Says There Is No "Turmoil" within Coalition but "Inevitable Adjustment of Differing Views"

Speaking to reporters in Kazanlak, Central Bulgaria, following his visit to the Arsenal military plant on Friday, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said that "while some are calling what is happening within the coalition turmoil, I see it as an inevitable adjustment of differing views." He was commenting on recent tensions between the coalition partners and the Democracy, Rights and Freedoms-DRF party.
In his words, predictability is the most important factor in any partnership. "When predictability is lacking, there is mistrust. I believe that the creases will continue to be ironed out. I do not think that anyone will benefit from a breakup in the coalition, especially since three of the parties that signed the coalition agreement are stable, and the supporting party, which is part of the parliamentary majority, has specific demands," Zhelyazkov said. He added that it is crucial that these demands be predictable and not catch the other partners off guard.
The Prime Minister said that no arrangements had been made regarding second-tier political appointments. "But everything goes through discussions and agreements. Even the best agreement can be annexed and changed, but that must be done in the spirit of partnership. When support is declared, all statements and changes in position, especially made from the parliamentary rostrum or in the media, do not help build trust within the partnership," Zhelyazkov added.
As to the recalculation of the October 2024 parliamentary election results, Zhelyazkov said that he could not say what the outcome might be. "How the results will be recounted and what the experts say is a matter of judgement. At any rate, any change will spark comments and reactions, but we will see what happens," Zhelyazkov said.
