for Customizing Work Place for Disabled


Sofia, June 7 (BTA) - Employers will be eligible to receive 10,000 leva for customizing the work place for a permanently disabled person of working age. The same amount could be allocated for equipping each new work place according to the worker's disability. These stimuli are set in the national disability employment programme, which was approved on Thursday by the National Council of People with Disabilities (NCPD), the Labour and Social Policy Ministry reported in a press release.

Employers who have received financing must employ their disabled workers for a period of at least 36 months after the funding contract is signed. The programme will also finance trainings and re-trainings of disabled persons, for which employers will be eligible to receive up to 200 leva per worker.

During its Thursday meeting, the NCPD reviewed a few additional projects and regulations, which aim to encourage the employment of people with disabilities. These include a methodology for financing projects for disabled persons to start their own businesses. RY/MY
