June 12 (BTA) - Prosecutor General Sotir
Tsatsarov and the Chief Prosecutor of the Romanian Directorate
for Investigating Organized Crime (DIICOT), Oliver-Felix Banila,
signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday, the Bulgarian
prosecution said.

The agreement provides for direct contact between the two
prosecution offices and for cooperation in investigations of
organized crime, including contraband, human and drug
trafficking, terrorism and other major crimes on the territory
of the two countries. A mechanism for prompt exchange of
information and implementation of requests for legal assistance
(European arrest and investigation warrants) is to be
established, as well as joint investigation teams.

The agreement also provides for professional cooperation related
to training and projects, and direct interaction between the
Specialized Prosecution Office and DIICOT.

The document was signed within Tsatsarov's visit to Romania at
the invitation of Banila. He was accompanied by a delegation
that included Deputy Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev and the head
of the International Department at the Supreme Prosecution
Office of Cassation, Tsvetomnir Yosifov.

The sides also discussed ongoing criminal cases of mutual
interest. RY/BR
