UAE Foreign Minister Al Nahyan

Sofia, June 14 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov conferred here on Friday with United Arab Emirates Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Government Information Service said. Borissov said during the meeting that Bulgaria and the UAE should keep the upward momentum in their relations and continue to advance bilateral cooperation.

The PM said that the opening of a UAE Embassy in Sofia will further facilitate bilateral dialogue and commercial and economic cooperation.

The Bulgarian head of government said that the recent vigorous promotion of Bulgarian-Emirati relations is due to good political will, the important role that each of the counties plays in their respective region, and the shared aspiration to cooperate in various areas. A number of visits took place within just six months, between October 2018 and March 2019, the high point being the official visit by Prime Minister Borissov to the UAE.

Borissov noted during the meeting that the UAE is an important and promising trading partner of Bulgaria in the Gulf Region. He outlined the advantages of Bulgaria as an investment destination and the potential of the UAE diversifying its investment portfolio in this country. The Prime Minister said it will be in the interest of both countries to take further steps in economic cooperation, boosting two-way trade and partnership in information technology, agriculture, tourism, transport, security and energy.
