June 17 (BTA) - Bulgaria's Transport, Information
Technology and Communications Minister Rossen Jeliazkov and
Montenegro's Transport and Maritime Affairs Minister Osman
Nurkovic Monday signed a bilateral Agreement on International
Road Transport of Passengers and Goods, which will enter into
force a month after the date of signature.

"The purpose of the Agreement is to lift the permit requirements
to bilateral and transit transport operations between the two
countries," Jeliazkov said after the signing ceremony at his
Ministry's building.

The Agreement that was signed on Monday will result directly in
an invigoration of the transport of goods and passengers. "Both
Bulgaria and Montenegro are wonderful countries and exceedingly
attractive for tourism. Two-way trade, too, is making
significant progress, as it grew by some 40 per cent in 2018
alone," the Transport Minister stressed. "What happened today is
part of the overall tendency of building trust and stability of
 inter-Balkan relations," he added.

During the visit, Bulgaria will also share its experience in
managing EU funds, infrastructure, operations and concessions,
Jeliazkov said.

Nurkovic emphasized that ever since its independence in 2006
Montenegro has been working on an alignment of its passengers
and goods transport legislation with the legislation of European
countries. "The new agreement will regulate international road
transport of passengers and goods between the two countries and
with third countries whose means of transport transit the
territories of the two States signatories. The agreement will
have the greatest impact of the economic operators engaged in
this transport and will also contribute to a speedier
liberalization of bilateral and transit carriage of goods,"
Nurkovic pointed out. RY/LG
