More Than 32,000 Tonnes of Food Given Out
under Operational Programme for
Foods and Basic Material Support 2014-2020


June 20 (BTA) - More than 32,000 tonnes of food for the neediest people have been given out in Bulgaria under the Operational Programme for Foods and Basic Material Support 2014-2020, Deputy Labour and Social Policy Minister Rossitsa Roussinova said during a meeting on June 19 with Nebraska Secretary of State Robert B. Evnen, the Labour and Social Policy Ministry said in a press release.

Roussinova and Evnen discussed topics of bilateral interest in the area of social assistance, employment and education. Roussinova spoke about the labour marker in Bulgaria and the advantages it offers for prospective foreign investors.

The budget of the Operational Programme for Foods and Material Support exceeds 241 million leva. More than 270,000 packages of staple foods are given out per year to more than 500,000 people, Roussinova said. The programme also funds the year-round work of 278 soup kitchens which provide cooked lunch to 50,779 people. IG/ZH
