July 1 (BTA) - One of Bulgaria's three mobile operators,
A1,  released on Monday this country's first 5G base station.
The company recently received authorization from the
Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) to test out a 5G
network and apps over a six-month period for a bandwidth of 3440
to 3540 MHz . "We expect to start offering 5G services to our
customers in 2020," said Krassimir Petrov, A1's Converged
Network and Services Director.

The new network provides very fast broadband mobile access,
reliable communication with little delay and mass machine to
machine communication.

The CRC welcomes all efforts aimed at giving users access to the
latest technology. "In March, we adopted a regulatory policy
that facilitates the use of radio spectrum, facilitates the
introduction of new digital technologies and services, and
encourages investment and competition," said CRC Chairman Ivan
Dimitrov.

Bulgaria is the 50th country to test the 5G network, A1 added.
