site.btaBulgaria-Montenegro Working Group to Promote Cooperation between Electricity System Operators

July 1 (BTA) - Bulgaria and Montenegro are
establishing a bilateral working group for cooperation in the
field of energy, Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova
and Montenegrin Economy Minister Dragica Sekulic agreed during
talks in the capital city of Podgorica. The Electricity System
Operator EAD CEO, Angelin Tsachev, also too part in the meeting,
 the Energy Ministry said on Monday.

Within the working group the experts will analyse the
opportunity for cooperation that will allow Bulgaria to export
electricity along the new infrastructure of the undersea power
line linking Montenegro and Italy, which will become operational
 at the end of 2019. In the course of the meeting Sekulic
updated the Bulgarian side about the status of the project.

In connection with that and in the context of the implementation
 of the Belene N-plant project, the working group will analyse
the opportunities for sale of the electricity generated in
Bulgaria through the territory of Montenegro. The options for
market consortia between the countries will also be discussed.

Petkova said that after the undersea power line becomes
operational Montenegro will hold an important position in the
region's power system.

At a meeting with Milutin Simovic, Deputy Prime Minister for
Economic Policy and Financial System and Minister of Agriculture
 and Rural Development, Petkova said that Bulgaria hails
Montenegro's actions to transpose EU energy legislation.

The sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the
intergovernmental commission in November./RY/BR
