NSFB Leader Simeonov,
MPs Meet with Bulgarians
from Western Outlands

Sofia, July 14 (BTA) - National Front for the Salvation of Bulgaria (NFSB) leader Valeri Simeonov lead a group of MPs to a series of meetings with members of the Bulgarian community in the Western Outlands (territories in southeastern Serbia ceded by Bulgaria in 1920) on Friday and Saturday, NFSB said in a press release. The visit was held at the invitation of the Bulgarian General Consulate in Nis with cooperation from the Cultural Information Centre in Tsaribrod.

The MPs and their compatriots discussed issues in different settlements of Surdulica Municipality, which the former had raised. The Bulgarian delegation took part in commemorating the first anniversary of the establishment of the local Serbian-Bulgarian cultural centre in the city of Zajecar.

In the past two years, NFSB has made it a priority to help protect the interests of the Bulgarian communities in Serbia, the party's press release said.

According to Simeonov, this is the first time a parliamentary delegation of this scale is making such a serious tour of the Western Outlands. He noted that this was made possible thanks to cooperation from the Secretary of the Tsaribrod Cultural Information Centre, Dalibor Milanov, who is tirelessly working for preserving the Bulgarian identity in the Western Outlands. Milanov noted that NFSB's MPs always respond to the invitations and commit themselves to the problems of the local Bulgarian community. "We hope to continue working like this in the future, because this is how our problems are solved," Dalibor Milanov is quoted as saying. LI/MY
