site.btaSofia Municipality Assists Socially Vulnerable, Homeless People for Second Consecutive Year


For the second year in a row, Sofia Municipality is launching an initiative to support socially vulnerable and homeless people. Backed by social centers and volunteers, the campaign will provide food and hot drinks throughout the winter, the municipality said.
The initiative, led by Deputy Mayor Nadezhda Bacheva, is designed to assist the most vulnerable members of Bulgarian society.
Sofia has three temporary accommodation centers, according to Sofia Municipality’s website.
The St. Sophia centre has 120 places and caters to the needs of homeless people aged 16 to 25 from across the country, including graduates of social training and vocational centres or other educational institutions. The St. Dimitar centre has a capacity of 270 people and provides social services to homeless individuals over the age of 18. The St. George centre offers 120 places and provides social services to homeless people over 18 and families with a permanent address in Sofia.
