site.btaBulgaria Makes New Pitch in Vienna as Destination of Year-round Health Tourism
The Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism organizes the second event where it will make a pitch for Bulgaria as a destination for year-round health tourism on the health insurance market Austria. The forum will take place in Vienna on November 21, the Union said.
The focus of the presentation this year will be wellness, wine and cultural heritage.
The event will be supported and hosted by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Vienna and with the participation of Ambassador Desislava Naydenova-Gospodinova. The event is supported by the Bulgarian Tourism Ministry and will be officially opened by Deputy Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva.
"The presentation will focus on the Black Sea climate, spa destinations with over 2,000 mineral and thermal springs, as well as natural healing combined with high-quality wines and rich cultural and historical heritage, which create ideal conditions for Bulgaria to develop from a hidden treasure into a dream travel destination," the Union said.
Thanks to the project, which was launched in November 2023, the catalogues of leading Austrian insurance companies currently include Bulgarian medical and spa facilities.
Bulgaria is also to be included in the programmes of pension companies in Austria, as well as in the catalogues of tour operators who have never before offered the destination in their portfolio.
The organizers have invited to the event politicians, representatives of Austrian insurance companies, tour operators, travel agents and the news media, among others.
The main organizer and moderator of the event is the Ambassador of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism, Meglena Plugchieva.
BTA Director General Kiril Valchev will be official guest. BTA is a partner of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism.
The first official presentation of Bulgaria as a health tourism destination (with a focus on Medical/Spa and Wellness) to a professional Austrian audience took place in November 2023 in Vienna. Market Austria is the second project of the Bulgarian Union of Balneology and Spa Tourism, with which the organization continues its consistent policy of positioning this country as a destination for year-round quality health tourism on the international market, after the German Association of Health Insurance Companies first included Bulgaria in the list of countries where it recognizes and reimburses rehabilitation costs, the organization said at the time.
