site.btaPM Glavchev Calls on Politicians for Restraint and Constructive Dialogue in Forming Stable Government

At the beginning of Wednesday's weekly government meeting, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev called on politicians for restraint and constructive dialogue, because it is in their hands to form a regular and stable government, which is in the interest of everyone. 

Glavchev expressed gratitude to the Bulgarian citizens who voted in the elections on Sunday, noting the appeals made by everyone, including the caretaker government and various political formations, calling for active participation, and pointing out that they seem to have worked. "This is a good sign that should continue," Glavchev said.

"We fulfilled our main task, the organization of fair and transparent elections," he commented.

Glavchev cited an assessment from a report by observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the organization of the vote, which stated that the early parliamentary elections held on October 27 in Bulgaria were competitive and professionally managed by the election administration. PACE welcomed the good organization of the elections and the unceasing efforts of the voters, exhausted by endless cycles of repeated elections, the Prime Minister quoted.

Glavchev аlso noted that important legislation is to be considered, including the State Budget Bill, National Health Insurance Fund budget bill and State Social Insurance budget bill. The Council of Ministers proposed a decision to introduce them when the 51st National Assembly is constituted. 

"This is necessary for no other reason than because the Public Finance Act states that the deadline for submitting the budget is 31 October, but I think everyone understands that this would be absolutely pointless. Today we will consider this proposal and I think it will be accepted. It is well-argued," the Prime Minister said.

"We hope that the 51st National Assembly will be constituted sooner and a regular and stable government will be formed that has political support and is politically responsible for its actions. When, in four years, hopefully, there are new elections and the voters judge what they heard in the pre-election campaign, what commitments were made and what was done, then their participation will be even greater", said Glavchev.
