Bulgarian Ambassador in London Tihomir Stoychev met with the Speaker of the House of Commons of the United Kingdom Sir Lindsay Hoyle in the Palace of Westminster. On this occasion, the Bulgarian national flag was raised in front of the Parliament building, reported the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Great Britain on their Facebook page.

The two expressed satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations based on a long diplomatic history and shared values. They mentioned the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom signed in October 2023, which is an important step towards deepening cooperation after Brexit, both on a bilateral basis and within the European Union, the Bulgarian Embassy pointed out.

The Bulgarian diplomatic representation added that during the conversation, "excellent cooperation at various levels in the field of security, defence, home affairs and the fight against illegal migration, trade, innovation, new technologies and tourism" was discussed. Special attention was also paid to the large Bulgarian community in the United Kingdom and its role as a connecting bridge between the two countries.

Ambassador Stoychev noted his country's interest in establishing a Friendship Group with Bulgaria in the British Parliament. Ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation were also discussed, including through the exchange of visits.
