Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation Vice President and three-time world champion Maria Petrova visited the Bulgarian Embassy in Tokyo and met with Ambassador Marieta Arabadjieva to discuss ways to strengthen Bulgarian-Japanese relations, the Embassy told BTA's BG World.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the city of Murayama. The diplomat and Petrova noted that rhythmic gymnastics is one of the symbols of Bulgarian-Japanese cooperation.
Petrova was invited by the city which hosted the training camps of Rhythmic Gymnastics Team Bulgaria before the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
Petrova held open training sessions and gave lectures in Murayama and at the Japan Women's College of Physical Education, one of the centres for rhythmic gymnastics training in Japan.
The Embassy said Murayama has built some of he most active ties with Bulgaria in recent years. The city has a monument to the Bulgarian winners of the group all-around rhythmic gymnastics title at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
