site.btaBonus System in Sofia's Public Transport to Be Established, Says Mayor Terziev after Meeting with Trade Unions
There will be a bonus system for employees in Sofia's public transport sector, said Mayor Vassil Terziev on Friday. "At a meeting today we briefed the unions on our proposal, which is in line with the agreements we made earlier this year to introduce such a system in the autumn of 2024", Terziev told a news briefing.
According to him, by the middle of next week the trade unions should acquaint their members with the proposals, and the agreement will be signed, which will calm the system.
Ilian Pavlov, deputy mayor for transport, commented that the proposed bonus system complies with the demands of workers and trade unions. "I think it is extremely fair, albeit not the most ideal option, but it is certainly a good start that will reduce the wage gap and how drivers and administration support each other," Pavlov said, pointing out that the harder lines will be better paid and the easier ones less so, in accordance with categories, which will be established.
The deputy mayor explained that the bonus system is set up in a way that is tied to the minimum wage. He said that for 2025, the bonus system would cost around BGN 15 million.
