The Ministry of Education sent a press release on Saturday on behalf of caretaker Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov for the World Teachers' Day, October 5. Tsokov believes that teachers are the foundation for the success and prosperity of any society.

The statement's reads: "Today's celebration is another occasion to express our appreciation for your hard work and dedication. You have the difficult but extremely noble mission of creating knowledgeable, capable and responsible individuals but, above all, good and honest people, worthy citizens of the country and the world."

Tsokov noted that the results of teachers' work do not always become obvious or get appreciated immediately, as sometimes the fruit of their efforts need years, however, they always come in the end.

In his words, in the coming decades, those who prosper will be the highly educated nations whose citizens have the knowledge and skills to cope with challenges and are able to continuously build on them. These qualities are formed at an early age by dedicated and capable teachers.

The Minister stated that teachers should be proud of their achievements, as their successes are successes for Bulgaria.

The Ministry of Education reported that a total of 92,619 teaching professionals work in the system of pre-school and school education.

Nearly 15% or 13,889 of them are under 35, while another 2% are working pensioners.
