An exhibition marking the 145th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) opened here Tuesday. It was unveiled by BNB Governor Dimitar radev in the presence of the members of the Managing Board and employees. The exhibition shows selected works from the BNB art collection, the bank said on its website.
Among them are paintings by Bulgarian classics Anton Mitov, Vladimir Dimitrov - Maystora, Konstantin Shtarkelov, Nikola Tanev, Genko Genkov and Svetlin Rusev.
"We are doing this in the spirit of good traditions and in awareness of our responsibility to preserve and popularize the national artistic heritage, which captures the past and preserves it in time. The Bulgarian national Bank was among the first national institutions which started an art collection and expanded it with time," Dimitar Radev said in his opening remarks.
He said that it is a mixture of classical and modern painting, various techniques and colour palettes, which can claim to representative of the Bulgarian school of painting. "It shows some recogniseable masterpieces as well as less known artists who have created exquisite works, including some who have been sent to oblivion," Radev added.
A catalogue produced for the exhibition shows 145 works from the BNB collection.
The exhibition will be on until January 31, 2025 and can be viewed on workdays from 8 in the morning to 15:30.
