Speaking to reporters in the corridors of Parliament on Wednesday, Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) acting leader Atanas Zafirov said that BSP will not participate in any political bargaining ahead of the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on October 27. Zafirov’s comment came as a response to GERB leader Boyko Borissov's statement that BSP is among GERB’s "natural partners".
The socialists expect actual debates during the election campaign, including debates between party leaders.
"If our ideas are audible to society and the rest of the political forces, we can continue the dialogue, but it should not be at the expense of collective decisions or consistent policy as an alternative to the status quo," Zafirov stressed. Everything else, in his opinion, is election blabbering, in which BSP will not participate.
The time of electoral coalitions is over, the BSP - United Left coalition has clearly shown what the model is and what the alternative to the current status quo is, Zafirov pointed out, adding that BSP will not take the election bait. The socialists' behaviour is consistent, he concluded.
