A one-day choir will be singing the Bulgarian folk song Kaval Sviri at an event in New York on September 8. That transpires in the monthly programme of Gaia Music Collective, which is holding the one-day choir sessions.

Anybody is welcome to join the one-day choirs after buying a spot in it, with no auditions and requirements for the participants. The one-day singers will be led by Grammy & Emmy- nominated musician Zahara (Annette Philip). Over 300 are expected to attend, according to a social media post by Lily Grantcharova, that is shared on Facebook by the Bulgarian Consulate General in New York, the US.

Kaval Sviri is a Bulgarian folk song that gained popularity after it was re-arranged by Peter Lyondev and was performed by the Trakia Ensemble in the Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares, Vol. II album produced by Disques Cellier in Switzerland in 1987.

Gaia Music Collective is an artistic community based in New York, which aims to encourage a more connected world through collaborative music-making experience.

The venue for the Kaval Sviri one-day choir is Gymnopedie, Brooklyn, NY.
