A postage stamp and a postcard were launched into circulation here on Thursday to mark the 50th anniversary of the Medical University in Pleven.
The ceremony was performed by the Regional Director of Bulgarian Posts, Pavlin Kavulski, the University Rector, Prof. Dobromir Dimitrov MD, the Rector Emeritus, Academician Grigor Gorchev MD, and the Chairman of the General Assembly, Prof. Slavcho Tomov MD.
The stamp has a face value of BGN 0.90 and a print run of 7,000. The pictorial postcard is priced BGN 0.50 and is printed in a quantity of 1,716. There is also a special souvenir cachet. The designer of the issue is Velislav Yordanov.
Prof. Dimitrov showed an accreditation that the University received in June from the American College of Surgeons. "This is an exceptional event for us. We are the second institution in Bulgaria to receive such an accreditation, after the Medical University in Plovdiv," he pointed out.
The stamp and card launch was one of the first events in the programme celebrating 50 years since the establishment of the medical university and 50 years of medical education and science in Pleven.
