Svetlin Roussev and Liya Petrova are the new owners of the violins of Prof. Stoika Milanova and Prof. Mincho Minchev. Roussev and Petrova received the precious instruments Monday evening after the premiere concert of the Apollonia Festival Orchestra in Sozopol’s amphitheatre.
In April of 2024, Prof. Milanova and Prof. Minchev handed over the violins, owned by the Bulgarian State, with which they performed and delighted audiences around the world and in Bulgaria. Prof. Minchev used a Stradivarius from 1716 and Prof. Milanova used a Guarneri from 1733.
Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov said, "The time has come to pass the baton on and to find young violinists to play these instruments. The Ministry of Culture has set up a special committee chaired by Prof. Minchev. This committee chose with great effort two wonderful Bulgarian violinists to use Stradivarius and Guarneri in the coming years.”
"Almost 50 years ago two exceptional instruments fell into the hands of Stoika Milanova and into my hands. I was incredibly excited, happy and thrilled then. Perhaps I am the same way now," said Prof. Minchev. He announced that the Stradivarius is going into the hands of Svetlin Roussev.
The Guarneri violin goes to Liya Petrova. She said it was a childhood dream come true.
