Supporters of Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Korneliya Ninova gathered in front of the BSP headquarters before the start of Sunday's National Council, where Ninova is expected to be penalized. The crowd was carrying banners reading "I support Ninova", "[Acting BSP Chair Atanas] Zafirov: Shame on the BSP" and "Honest socialists support Ninova".

Earlier, BSP youths covered the headquarters with stickers that called for Ninova's expulsion from the party.

There are police on the scene guarding the entrance to the BSP headquarters.

The party plenum is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
